“I had been thinking about renovating my home for the last 12 months and when I found out that Gonia was studying Interior Design, I approached her and asked her if she was in need of a project. She happily undertook the mammoth interior design task required to renovate my 17 year old home (4 bedroom, 4 split level) with great enthusiasm and attention to detail. During an initial interview with me, I realized that I had no real requirements or ideas surrounding the look I was hoping to achieve except to say that I was wanting to modernize every room in my home. I gave her full creative license to tackle this for me and so far she has surpassed all of my expectations.
Her mood boards presented classy and elegant ideas, which demonstrated to me that she also understood me as a person – even though I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to achieve, she knew that I wanted a great quality, timeless solution. Gonia was very keen to design a new kitchen for me and took no time to piece together a sample board. She chose a neutral colour palette that would not date. I had been tired of my plain white kitchen with black benchtops which I had installed throughout my house and was excited to see what Gonia had come up with.
She’d sourced some great quality products which would fit within the confines of my budget. When it came to concepts of my new kitchen, Gonia displayed great skill with the software she was using. She measured up the for the new kitchen and plugged in all the dimensions, mocking up what my finished kitchen would look like. It was so good to see the many different angles of the kitchen to help me visualize the end result. It was also amazing to see the proposed lighting over our breakfast bar and dining room table as I’ve never had anything except downlights.
She also designed me a floor to ceiling buffet cabinet for my dining room which included a fabulous cocktail / spirit cabinet with strip lighting, mirrored backing and a glass shelf as well as a few open shelves for some decorative items and plenty of extra storage for the dining room.
I can’t wait to work with Gonia on my bathrooms and laundry next year and external changes the following year! I have seen Gonia’s initial concept of the master bedroom Ensuite and it is simply stunning!”
